Minor League Baseball named its players and pitchers of the week (April 7-17) on Monday and Cubs’ prospect Bijan Rademacher turned his excellent start into a weekly honor.
OF Bijan Rademacher was named Southern League Player of the Week. Rademacher has been one of the hottest hitters in the Cubs system and all of minor league baseball.
Rademacher batted .440/.576/.720 with a double, two home runs and a 1.296 OPS. Rademacher was 11-for-25 in the first 10 games of the season with eight walks, two strikeouts and 18 total bases. Rademacher led the Southern League in batting average (.440), on-base percentage (.576) and slugging percentage (.720). Rademacher’s eight walks tied him for third in the league.
Rademacher was tied for 10th in all of minor league baseball in batting average (.440), third in OBP (.576) and eighth in OPS (1.296).
Last season, the 24-year old outfielder played in 119 games for Double-A Tennessee. Rademacher batted .261/.379/.370 with 19 doubles, four triples and four home runs for a .748 OPS. Rademacher walked more times (67) than he struck out (60) last year and drove in 47 runs.
