If the weather permits it, the Cubs square off against the Brewers on Wednesday night at Wrigley Field in the second game of the series.
Jake Arrieta is scheduled to make the start and Joe Maddon is sending out the following lineup behind him.
Cubs batting order: Dexter Fowler CF, Jason Heyward RF, Kris Bryant LF, Anthony Rizzo 1B, Ben Zobrist 2B, Tommy La Stella 3B, Addison Russell SS, David Ross C, Jake Arrieta P
Kris Bryant is in left field tonight with Tommy La Stella getting his second start in three games. La Stella is at third with Ben Zobrist at second base.
David Ross is behind the plate for the second straight game. If the game is played, Ross will start three games in a row with Jon Lester scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
Miguel Montero is dealing with a stiff back. Tuesday he was listed as day-to-day and thought he would need a day or so worth of treatment. Javier Baez is the Cubs’ emergency catcher. Baez was a catcher in high school before the Cubs drafted him.
Joe Maddon’s bench for Wednesday: Matt Szczur, Jorge Soler, Miguel Montero and Javier Baez
Taylor Jungmann faces the Cubs for the third time in his career. Jungmann is 0-2 with a 4.32 ERA and 2.04 WHIP. Right-handers have put together a .350/.426/.700 line with a 1.126 OPS against him this season while left-handers have hit .269/.375/.538 with a .913 OPS.
In 25 starts in the big leagues over the last two seasons, left-handers have hit .261/.346/.395 with a .741 OPS and right-handers have batted .243/.324/.431 with a .754 OPS.
The Cubs will make Jungmann work and based on his 10 walks with 11 strikeouts in 17 innings this season, Maddon’s offense could force Craig Counsell to go to his bullpen early and often tonight.
