Albert Almora Jr. Cracks Third Home Run, Stays On Track at the Plate

April 29, 2016 1:30 pm By Neil 1 Comment

The work Albert Almora Jr. put in the off-season and in Spring Training has paid off over the first month of the season.

Almora Jr. went 3-for-5 in Iowa’s 10-5 victory over Colorado Springs on Thursday night. And Almora Jr. hit his third longball, a three-run shot with two outs in the eighth that put the game away for the I-Cubs.

While listening to the game, Almora Jr. made solid contact that produced that good sound off the bat.

In 18 games this season, Albert Almora Jr. is batting .362/.403/.551 with four doubles and three home runs for a .953 OPS. Almora Jr. has six walks and eight strikeouts in 69 at-bats. He is second on the team in RBI (11) to Dan Vogelbach (16) and he leads the I-Cubs in total bases (38).

Almora Jr. has at least one hit in eight of his last 10 games and is 18-for-44 over that span with six multi-hit games.

It’s only one month in the Pacific Coast League, but it has been a very encouraging 18 games offensively for Albert Almora Jr.
