Jake Arrieta returns to Cactus League action. Arrieta made his last start in a minor league game. The Cubs should have Arrieta throw 80 to 90 pitches tonight in what will be his final full start of the spring. Arrieta will be backed down in five days and make a short appearance against the A’s (March 29) to stay on his routine.
Madison Bumgarner has struggled this spring on the mound while dealing with oblique and foot injuries. Bumgarner has been off mechanically but thinks he will be ready by Opening Day.
Joe Maddon is expected to have a majority of his regulars in the starting lineup.
ESPN is carrying tonight’s game from Scottsdale. Len Kasper and Mick Gillispie have the Cubs call on the ‘radio’ side.
