Cubs Sign RHP Tommy Nance to Minor League Contract

The Cubs posted Thursday on the official transaction page that the team signed RHP Tommy Nance to a minor league contract on Feb. 1.

Nance020416-1Tommy Nance turns 25 on March 19 and pitched last season for the Windy City ThunderBolts of the Frontier League.

Nance was 1-1 in 29 relief appearances with a 4.74 ERA and 1.42 WHIP. Nance allowed 21 runs, 20 earned, on 41 hits with 13 walks and 40 strikeouts in 38 innings.

Nance is 6-foot-6, 230 pounds and has one year of experience in Independent baseball.

In his senior year at Santa Clara University, Nance posted a 3-4 record in 14 games, eight starts, with a 3.60 ERA and 1.14 WHIP. Nance had a complete game shutout and picked up two saves in the same season.

PrintTommy Nance was 12-11 in 51 games, 36 starts, with a 4.66 ERA and 1.45 WHIP during his four-year college career that included four complete games and three saves.
