Ricketts Family Purchases Three Rooftops, Launches Wrigley Rooftops Website

January 14, 2016 11:00 am By Neil 13 Comments

The Ricketts family bought three more rooftop buildings across from Wrigley Field and now owns nine of the 16 rooftops after their recent purchases.

WrigleyRooftops-300According to a report from Crain Chicago Business, Greystone Sheffield Holdings, the venture owned by the Ricketts family, “has purchased the Beyond the Ivy rooftop buildings at 1010 W. Waveland Ave. and 1038 W. Waveland Ave., as well as the Sky Lounge Wrigley Rooftop at 1048 W. Waveland.”

Danny Ecker reported it is unknown at this point how much the Ricketts family paid for the properties, those records have not been updated on the Cook County website.

PrintThe Ricketts family has purchased all nine properties in the last 13 months. And according to Crain’s Chicago Business, the family has a “stake in Down the Line Rooftop at 3621 N. Sheffield” and is suing for the right to “buy the building in full.”

The Ricketts family properties: 3617 N. Sheffield Ave., 3619 N. Sheffield Ave., 3637 N. Sheffield Ave., 3639 N. Sheffield Ave., 3643 N. Sheffield Ave., 1010 W. Waveland Ave., 1032 W. Waveland Ave., 1038 W. Waveland Ave. and 1048 W. Waveland Ave

Of the 16 rooftops, there are only six that the Ricketts family does not have a stake in. Murphy’s Bleachers, the Sports Corner, Lakeview Baseball Club, Skybox on Sheffield and “two rooftops beyond the left field foul pole.”

The Ricketts family announced Wednesday the new website was launched that Crane Kenney indicated in November would be available in the New Year.

WrigleyRooftopsllc.com is labeled as the premier rooftop destination and provides fans the ability to purchase tickets from 10 rooftop clubs through the same website. Nine of the buildings are owned by the Ricketts family with the Loukas-owned Sports Corner located at 3609 N. Sheffield Ave. being the lone rooftop club selling tickets through the website not owned by the family.

According to Danny Ecker, “signage on all 10 rooftop properties will also reflect the new Wrigley Rooftops logo” so fans can easily identify which buildings are basically under team control.

The interactive website features a 3-D map and 360-degree views from the skybox seats of each rooftop.

The Ricketts family owns nine of the 10 rooftops that are selling tickets through the website and allowed Sheffield-Waveland Rooftops, Inc. to manage Wrigley Rooftops, the brand formed by the Ricketts.
