The Cubs have not announced the Minor League managers, coaching staffs or coordinators. Those announcements should be made in the near future. According to a report from the New Orleans Advocate, Andy Haines has been hired to be the organization’s new Minor League Hitting Coordinator.
Haines has been the manager of Triple-A New Orleans in Miami’s system for the last two seasons and he’s been with the Marlins’ organization for the past eight years. Prior to managing the Zephyrs, Haines was the skipper of High-A Jupiter in the Florida State League the previous two seasons.
After spending time in Independent ball, Haines’ first job in the Marlins’ organization was as the hitting coach of the GCL Marlins in Gulf Coast League in 2008.
Andy Haines was born in Olney, IL, has a degree from Eastern Illinois and a master’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University.
The Cubs will announce replacements for Derek Johnson, the organization’s Minor League Pitching Coordinator, who left to take the pitching coach’s job in Milwaukee. And new pitching coaches for Triple-A Iowa and Double-A Tennessee will be among the changes in the Cubs’ system. Storm Davis (Tennessee) and Mike Cather (Iowa) have taken positions with other organizations.
Under the current regime, the Cubs have announced its Minor League Managers, Staff and Coordinators the week before Christmas.
