In the meantime, Arismendy Alcantara remained hot for Licey in the Dominican Republic, while Christian Villanueva continued to devastate Mexican Pacific League pitching.

Dominican Winter League
Estrellas de Oriente

Leones del Escogido
Ecogido kept pace with the leaders on Wednesday in extra innings, as they came out on top of Cibao 2-1 in 12 innings. Carlos Pimentel started and allowed an earned run on five hits and a walk while striking out two in 5.1 innings.
Tigres del Licey
Staying on a roll, the Tigers took it to Escogido last Monday, winning 6-2. Arismendy Alcantara remained in centerfield and was 0-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and a stolen base.
Licey returned to their winning ways on Wednesday as they defeated Este 5-4. Arismendy Alcantara was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in the win.
The Big Cats maintained their first place lead on Saturday by defeating Cibao 4-3 in 10 innings. Arismendy Alcantara had a big night, going 4-for-4 while splitting time between second base and center field.
Mexican Pacific League
Tomateros de Culiacan
Last Sunday, Culiacan was able to hang on in the late innings as they defeated Hermosillo 4-3. Ryan Buchter picked up his ninth save and he pitched a scoreless ninth and struck out two batters.
Visiting Mazatlan on Friday, the Tomateros jumped out to an early lead and held on, beating the Venados 4-2. It was save number 10 for Ryan Buchter, with a strikeout in yet another scoreless ninth inning.
Yaquis de Obregon
It was a romp for the Yaquis on Thursday as they beat Culiacan 13- 3. Christian Villanueva returned to the starting line-up at DH and was 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, two walks, a run scored, and four RBI.
Make it two in a row for Obregon as they came back home to take on Hermosillo and put up a 5-1 victory. Christian Villanueva added some insure in the seventh inning as he cracked a solo home run, going 1-for-4.
Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League
Cangrejeros de Santurce
Tuesday’s Santurce game with Carolina was suspended after nine innings, taking some of the luster away from the winter debut of Javier Baez. Baez played second base and was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored as the game finished in a 2-2 tie.
Marathon does not nearly describe Wednesday’s game, as the Cangrejeros fell in 17 innings to Caguas 4-3. Fernando Cruz was the fifth pitcher for the Crabbers and struck out three and walked a batter in two innings.
It was a late inning collapse for the Crabmen on Friday as they lost to Carolina 5-3. Fernando Cruz did his job in relieving starter Reiner Roibal, striking out a batter in a scoreless inning.
Pitching snatched a victory away from Santurce again as they lost a one run lead in the ninth to bow 6-5 to Caguas. After Matt Lindstrom allowed the tying run and left with one out and the bases loaded, Fernando Cruz gave up a single to the first batter he faced to bring in the game-winner.
Venezuelan Winter League
Cardenales de Lara
The hard luck for Lara this winter continued on Friday, as they were blown out by Aragua 5-1. Yoervis Medina was torched once again, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits as he pitched only 0.1 innings.
Leones del Caracas
Caracas continued to stumble last Sunday as they lost to Aragua 8-3. Carlos Penalver started at shortstop and was 1-for-3 with an RBI in the loss.
Tigres de Aragua
Aragua used a seven-run seventh inning last Sunday to get past Caracas 8-3. Armando Rivero entered the game in the eighth and had a strikeout in a perfect inning.
