Cubs Lineup for Game 3 of NLCS

October 20, 2015 2:00 pm By Neil 18 Comments

Joe Maddon posted his lineup for Game 3 of the NLCS. And Jorge Soler is back in the starting nine.

Jorge Soler is starting in place of Chris Coghlan in right field. Maddon said Tuesday that the warmer weather should help Soler be more productive at the plate. Javier Baez is batting ninth at shortstop behind Kyle Hendricks.

Maddon would like to get five-six innings out of Hendricks tonight before going to his bullpen.

Cubs starting lineup for Game 3: Dexter Fowler CF, Kyle Schwarber LF, Kris Bryant 3B, Anthony Rizzo 1B, Starlin Castro 2B, Jorge Soler RF, Miguel Montero C, Kyle Hendricks P, Javier Baez SS

Jacob deGrom is 0-2 in three career starts against the Cubs with a 6.46 ERA and 1.70 WHIP. And at Wrigley, deGrom is 0-1 in two starts with a 7.20 ERA and 1.70 WHIP (eight runs on 10 hits with seven walks and eight strikeouts in 10 innings).

Jacob deGrom dominated right handers during the regular season. And lefties hit 12 of the 16 home runs he gave up during the regular season. Left handers batted .245/.283/.357 against him in 2015 while right handers managed a .181/.225/.228 slash line.

PrintCubs Career Numbers against Jacob deGrom: Starlin Castro: 2-for-8 with one walk; Anthony Rizzo: 3-for-9 with one home run; Kris Bryant: 1-for-2 with one home run and one walk; Dexter Fowler: 1-for-1 with one walk; Miguel Montero: 1-for-3; Jorge Soler: 0-for-2
