Thursday night’s game between the Cubs and Phillies at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia was postponed due to rain.
The Cubs and Phillies will play a doubleheader Friday. First game is scheduled to start at 4:05pm CDT. This is not a day-night twin bill. The Cubs and Pirates will play a traditional single-admission doubleheader.
Jake Arrieta will start the first game and Kyle Hendricks will take the ball in the night cap. With a traditional doubleheader, the second game should begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first.
The expanded roster will help the Cubs with the doubleheader. Plus, if the Phillies do not change their rotation, the Cubs will face a lefty in game one and a right hander in game two. Joe Maddon will have two different lineups with likely only three players starting in both games.
The Cubs also announced Dan Haren will start Saturday, which was already scheduled. The Cubs are now listing Sunday as TBD. Jason Hammel was scheduled to start the finale in Philly.
According to Paul Sullivan and Jesse Rogers, Sunday may end up being a bullpen day.
It appears Jon Lester and Jason Hammel will start Tuesday’s doubleheader in Pittsburgh.
