Minor League Baseball announced its player and pitcher of the week honors Monday, and LHP Eric Jokisch was named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week (Aug. 24-30).
Eric Jokisch was 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA and 0.69 WHIP. Jokisch allowed one run on six hits with three walks and six strikeouts over 13 innings to Fresno and Sacramento. Jokisch pitched his first complete game (seven innings) his last time out against the River Cats on Aug. 29.
This is Eric Jokisch’s third weekly honor. Eric Jokisch was the Florida State Pitcher of the Week (May 7-13, 2012) when he was with the Daytona Cubs. And Jokisch was the Southern League Pitcher of the Week (Aug. 5-11, 2013) as a member of Double-A Tennessee’s staff two years ago.
According to the release, Eric Jokisch is the first I-Cubs’ pitcher to earn the weekly honor since RHP Kyle Hendricks (May 12-18, 2014).

Eric Jokisch is 5-3 in 13 starts for Iowa this season with a 3.94 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. Jokisch has allowed 35 runs, 28 earned, on 73 hits with 23 walks and 34 strikeouts in 64 innings. Jokisch has spent time on the disabled list twice this season.
Jokisch made three rehab appearances in Arizona before he returned to the Iowa Cubs on Aug. 13. For the year, Jokisch is 6-4 in 16 starts between Triple-A Iowa and the AZL Cubs with a 3.46 ERA and 1.49 WHIP (39 runs, 29 earned, on 86 hits with 26 walks and 42 strikeouts in 75 1/3 innings).
The Cubs selected the 26-year old lefty in the 11th round of the 2010 draft out of Northwestern. Jokisch made his big league debut last season and appeared in four games, making one start. Eric Jokisch allowed six runs, three earned, on 18 hits (three home runs) with four walks and 10 strikeouts in 14 1/3 innings (1.88 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, 5.29 FIP).
