The Cubs announced four roster moves Wednesday morning. And one more roster move will have to be made prior to Wednesday’s finale with the Rockies.
The Cubs placed RHP Neil Ramirez on the 15-day DL with left abdominal soreness. RHP Yoervis Medina was recalled from Triple-A Iowa to take his spot on the active roster.
The Cubs have not announced the roster move required to add RHP Ben Rowen to the 40-man roster. The Cubs do not have an empty spot on the 40-man, which currently stands at 40 players, to officially place Ben Rowen on the roster.

With the five roster moves Wednesday, the Cubs 40-man roster stands at 40 players. The 25-man active roster consists of 13 pitchers (nine relievers, four starters) and 12 position players.

Rowen opted out of his contract with the Baltimore Orioles on July 1 to sign with the Cubs. Rowen signed with the Dodgers in January and was traded by Los Angeles along with Chris O’Brien to the Orioles for Brian Ward, Ryan Webb and the Orioles competitive balance Round B pick in the 2015 draft.
The Rangers selected Ben Rowen in the 22nd round of the 2010 draft. Rowen appeared in eight games out of Texas’ bullpen last season. Rowen allowed four runs on 10 hits in 8 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts, four walks and three intentional walks (4.15 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, 2.90 FIP). Rowen was released last December and signed with the Dodgers in January.
