Kyle Schwarber Collects Three Hits, Smacks First Triple-A Homer

Schwarber062815The I-Cubs beat New Orleans on Saturday night 6-1 behind a strong pitching performance from LHP Drake Britton and a 12-hit attack that included Kyle Schwarber’s first home run.

Kyle Schwarber batted third for Iowa, started behind the plate and went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and two runs scored. Schwarber’s home run cleared the center field wall … with plenty of room to spare.

PrintKyle Schwarber is adjusting to Triple-A pitching. In five games, Schwarber was 5-for-19 with two doubles, a triple, a home run, a walk and seven strikeouts (.263/.300/.632/.932). Schwarber has driven in two runs and collected 12 total bases. Since he was optioned to Iowa last Monday, Schwarber has caught four games.

In 63 games in the minors, Kyle Schwarber is hitting .315/.427/.583 with 12 doubles, two triples and 14 home runs for a 1.011 OPS.
