Monday night’s game between the Cubs and Indians at Wrigley Field has been postponed due to inclement weather.
The game will be made up on Monday, Aug. 24, a start time has not been announced. The Cubs and Indians will play one game Tuesday, June 16.
Fans are encouraged to retain their tickets from tonight’s postponed game to use for the rescheduled contest on Aug. 24.
Terry Francona will not skip RHP Trevor Bauer. The Indians will send Trevor Bauer to the hill Tuesday night in what is now the opener of a three-game series.
Joe Maddon has pushed his entire starting staff back a day, Wada will not be skipped as a way to bring in a position player and send down a reliever.
Jake Arrieta will start Tuesday night and Tsuyoshi Wada will get the opener in Cleveland on Wednesday.
Without any changes, the pitching matchups for the now three-game series: Jake Arrieta vs. Trevor Bauer (Tuesday), Tsuyoshi Wada vs. Shaun Marcum (Wednesday), Jason Hammel vs. Danny Salazar (Thursday). Kyle Hendricks should face Phil Hughes on Friday night in the opener of the three-game series with the Twins.
Monday’s game with the Indians is the fourth postponement for the Cubs this season.
The Cubs have a day-night doubleheader with the Cardinals on July 7 to make-up the game that was called on April 7. The Cubs have a twin bill at Great American Ball Park with the Reds on July 22 to makeup the game that was waited out then postponed on April 22.
The game with the Royals that was postponed on May 30 was pushed to the last home game of the season. The Cubs and Royals are scheduled to make up the game from May on Sept. 28.
With the Cubs and Indians making up tonight’s game on Aug. 24, after an off-day on Aug. 17 the Cubs will play the Tigers (Aug. 18-19) and Braves (Aug. 20-23) at Wrigley. Following the make-up with the Indians, the Cubs will fly to the West Coast for a six-game trip in San Francisco (Aug. 25-27) and Los Angeles (Aug. 28-30). The Cubs return to Wrigley for a six-game homestand with the Reds and Diamondbacks on Aug. 31. The Cubs have Thursday, Aug. 3 as a scheduled day off.
