Kyle Schwarber and Dan Vogelbach tore up the Southern League in April and the Bash Brothers have kept hitting over the first two days in May. Schwarber and Vogelbach are providing quite the 1-2 punch for Double-A Tennessee.
Baseball America released its All-Prospect Team for April on Saturday, and to no surprise Kyle Schwarber and Dan Vogelbach made the team.
Dan Vogelbach had an incredible start to his season and will likely be named the organization’s Minor League Player of the Month for April on Monday. Vogelbach won back-to-back Southern League Player of the Week awards and finished the month with a .362/.470/.594 slash line. In 19 games, he was 25-for-69 with seven doubles, three home runs, 14 walks and 10 strikeouts for a 1.064 OPS. And in two games this month, Vogelbach is 4-for-8 with a double and a triple after collecting three more hits and a walk on Saturday night.
In 21 games this year, Dan Vogelbach is hitting .377/.478/.623 (29-for-77) with eight doubles, a triple, three home runs, 15 walks and 12 strikeouts for a 1.102 OPS.
Kyle Schwarber is producing at the plate while taking his lumps behind the dish learning how to catch.
Kyle Schwarber produced the game winning run on Saturday night, a solo home run in the 10th inning that gave the Smokies a much-needed 6-5 victory over Birmingham.
