Cubs-Royals postponed, will be made up Monday, Sept. 28
Saturday’s game between the Cubs and Royals at Wrigley Field (6:15pm CDT) has been postponed due to the forecast of inclement weather throughout the evening.
The Cubs announced the game has been rescheduled for Monday, Sept. 28 at 7:05pm CDT.
Joe Maddon and Ned Yost announced Tsuyoshi Wada and Yordano Ventura will start the series finale on Sunday afternoon.
Jason Hammel should start the opener in Miami on Monday. If Joe Maddon does not change his rotation, the Cubs will send Hammel, Kyle Hendricks and Jon Lester to the hill for the three games with the Marlins.
This is the third game that has been postponed this season.
The Cubs and Cardinals game from April 7 has been rescheduled as part of a day-night doubleheader at Wrigley Field on July 7. And the game with the Reds at Great American Ball Park that was postponed on April 25 will be made up as part of a day-night doubleheader in Cincinnati on July 22.
The Cubs and Royals will now play the final game of the regular season at Wrigley Field. The Cubs last homestand of the season was expected to conclude with a weekend series with the Pirates. The Cubs have the Cardinals (Sept 18-20), Brewers (Sept. 21-23) and Pirates (Sept. 25-27) on the schedule along with the Royals (Sept. 28) for the 10-game homestand.
The regular season wraps up for the Cubs on the road with three games in Cincinnati (Sept. 29-Oct. 1) and three games in Milwaukee (Oct. 2-4).
