The Cubs announced a tentative 2015 Spring Training schedule Wednesday. The team could still add exhibition games to the spring slate that begins on March 5 with split squad games against the A’s at Cubs Park and in Scottsdale against the Giants.
As the schedule is currently composed, the Cubs play 29 games in the Cactus League with only two split squad games (March 5, March 28) and without a trip to Las Vegas for Big League Weekend at Cashman Field for the first time since 2004.
The Cubs have 15 dates scheduled at Cubs Park on a spring schedule that ends on April 1 against the Brewers in Mesa. With Opening Day 2015 not until April 6, the Cubs should schedule at least three more practice games before the season opens at Wrigley Field against the Cardinals.
This spring will be the second at the new facility in Mesa. There will be a lot of excitement during the Cactus League games as the spring roster should feature the top talent in the system. And for the first time, the Cubs should have Starlin Castro, Anthony Rizzo, Javier Baez, Arismendy Alcantara, Jorge Soler and Kris Bryant on the field at the same time.
Single game tickets for Cubs home spring games at Cubs Park go on sale Jan. 10, 2015 at 11:00am CST on Cubs.com.
