Cubs-Cardinals Game Postponed Due to Rain

May 14, 2014 5:29 pm By Neil 4 Comments

Wednesday night’s game in St. Louis between the Cubs and Cardinals has been postponed due to rain. The Cubs and Cardinals will make up the game as part of a day-night doubleheader on Saturday, August 30.

The Cubs announced Jason Hammel will start Thursday’s finale, of what is now a three-game series, in St. Louis. First pitch is scheduled for 12:45 pm CDT.

With Tuesday’s marathon and a short-start from Jake Arrieta, the rainout will help the bullpen. The Cubs will reportedly place LHP Zac Rosscup on the 15-day DL with a shoulder injury and activate RHP Jose Veras from the disabled list. Veras is with the team in St. Louis.

The Cubs will push all of their starters back a day. Jeff Samardzija will face the Brewers in the opener of the three-game series on Friday afternoon at Wrigley.
