Bryant Cranks Number Nine, Soler Productive in Return, Zastryzny May Not Miss Time

Kris Bryant followed up his two-home run, six RBI performance on Wednesday night with a three-hit game in the Smokies 5-4 victory over the Barons.

Kris Bryant went 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored on Thursday. Bryant is hitting .328/.437/.630 with nine doubles, nine home runs and a 1.067 OPS in 33 games this season. Three of Bryant’s nine longballs have come in the last two games.

Jorge Soler returned the Smokies’ lineup on Thursday night. Soler hit fourth in the Smokies lineup and went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBI, two runs scored and two walks.

Pierce Johnson received a no decision on Thursday after allowing three runs on three this with two walks and eight strikeouts in six innings. Jose Veras picked up the win after tossing a scoreless inning. Thursday was Veras’ second appearance with the Smokies.

Rob Zastryzny

Rob Zastryzny was hit with a comebacker to the mound on Wednesday and received good news on Thursday. X-rays were done on Wednesday after he left the game according to the report from Sean Kernan. X-rays revealed “no damage was done.”

Dave Keller said Zastryzny has “just a bruise” and he does not expect Zastryzny to miss any time. And he should not miss his next start.”
