C.J. Edwards was in Chicago on Thursday to be examined by Dr. Stephen Gryzlo after cutting a bullpen session short due to discomfort in his shoulder. Reports indicated Thursday that Edwards was dealing with fatigue in his shoulder.
According to a report from Patrick Mooney, Edwards felt tightness in his shoulder and after being examined by Dr. Gryzlo, Edwards is scheduled to have an MRI on Friday morning. The Cubs will know more at that time.
The Sun-Times confirmed Mooney’s report and added, “Team officials said it was too early to speculate on the extent of the possible injury.”
Patrick Mooney provided an update on Jorge Soler. The Cubs are “hoping Soler will be able to return to game action soon.” Soler has been dealing with a hamstring injury and has been at the Cubs’ facility in Mesa rehabbing the injury. Soler has not played in an extended Spring Training game yet.
