The game between the Cubs and Reds scheduled for Monday night at The Great American Ball Park was postponed after a delay of little more than an hour. A make-up date has not been announced.
The Cubs and Reds are scheduled to play on Tuesday night at The Great American Ball Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:10pm CDT.
Neither team has announced a starting pitcher for what will now be the first of a two-game series.
It is very likely the Cubs will push Jeff Samardzija to Tuesday with the Reds likely doing the same for Alfredo Simon. If the two teams decide not to play a doubleheader on Wednesday, Edwin Jackson would start on Wednesday with Jake Arrieta being pushed to the opener of the weekend series against the Cardinals on Friday.
Stay Tuned. Will post updates as the pitching match-ups are released.
Updated 7:23pm CDT – The Reds announced Alfredo Simon will start Tuesday night and Tony Cingrani will pitch Wednesday.
Updated 7:25pm CDT – The Cubs announced Jeff Samardzija will start Tuesday’s game and Edwin Jackson will face Tony Cingrani on Wednesday night.
Monday’s postponement is only the eighth rainout in 12 seasons at the Great American Ball Park.
