From the Wire … Cubs Place Dolis on DL, DFA Burnett and Call-Up Parker from Iowa

June 1, 2013 12:56 pm By Neil 2 Comments

According to multiple reports, the Cubs made three more changes to the bullpen on Saturday.

The Cubs placed RHP Rafael Dolis on the 15-day DL retroactive to May 27 with a right forearm strain and selected the contract of RHP Blake Parker from Triple-A Iowa, added him to the 40-man roster and recalled him from Triple-A Iowa. To make room on the 40-man roster, recently acquired and demoted RHP Alex Burnett was designated for assignment.

With the latest round of reliever roster moves, the Cubs’ 40-man roster stands at 40 players.

The Cubs claimed RHP Alex Burnett off waivers from the Orioles just five days ago. Burnett pitched the ninth inning in Wednesday’s win over the White Sox then was optioned to Iowa the next morning when Zach Putnam was added to the roster.

Blake Parker has been pitching late in games for the I-Cubs this season and posted a 0-1 record in 16 games with a 2.04 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP. Parker has finished 15 of the 16 games he has appeared in while picking up seven saves. In 17 2/3 innings, he walked 10 batters and gave up eight hits while recording 26 strikeouts.
