According to multiple reports, the Rangers claimed lefty Jeff Beliveau off waivers from the Cubs. Beliveau was designated for assignment on December 13 to make room on the 40-man roster for Ian Stewart.

Updated 1:47pm CST – The Giants also claimed Sandy Rosario off waivers from the Cubs. The 40-man roster currently stands at 39 players.

Jeff Beliveau made his big league debut on July 22 and in 22 games he posted a 1-0 record with a 4.58 ERA and a 1.87 WHIP … 12 walks and 17 strikeouts in 17 2/3 innings.

The Cubs selected Beliveau in the 18th round of the 2008 June draft. Beliveau was the 2011 Cubs Minor League Pitcher of the Year.
