From the Wire … Cubs Receive Jair Bogaerts from Red Sox to Complete Compensation Deal for Theo Epstein

March 29, 2012 12:06 pm By Neil 4 Comments

According to multiple reports, the Theo Epstein compensation issue is finally complete. The Cubs acquired 19-year old first base prospect Jair Bogaerts from the Red Sox as the PTBNL in the deal with Boston.

The Red Sox have already received right-handed pitchers Chris Carpenter and Aaron Kurcz from the Cubs as their part of the compensation for Theo Epstein. Jair Bogaerts, the 19-year old first baseman, played in 47 games in the Dominican Summer League last season and put together a .288/.387/.404 line with two doubles and two home runs.

The Cubs and Padres have not settled on the compensation for Jed Hoyer and Jason McLeod, that announcement is expected soon.
