From the Wire … Scales and Parker Outrighted to Triple-A Iowa

October 14, 2010 5:24 pm By Neil Leave a Comment

The Cubs 40-man roster shuffle began on Thursday afternoon. According to multiple reports, Bobby Scales and Blake Parker were outrighted to Triple-A Iowa. Both players were removed from the Cubs’ Major League roster … which now stands at 38 players. The removal of Bobby Scales and Blake Parker from the big league roster comes as no surprise. Scales is a career minor leaguer while Parker, after a promising 2009 season and AFL campaign, struggled throwing strikes in Spring Training and did not fare much better in Triple-A. Parker finished the season in the Smokies’ bullpen.

Both spots created on Thursday figure to be filled again when John Grabow and Angel Guzman are activated from the 60-day DL … but for now, the Cubs 40-man roster has two open spots.

Will update if any additional information becomes available …
