Santo to Miss Seattle Trip … Will Cut Back on Future Road Games

June 21, 2010 7:30 pm By Neil Leave a Comment

According to a report from the Tribune, Ron Santo will not make the trip to his hometown this week. Santo has dealt with health issues several times this season. Santo was hospitalized during a trip to Pittsburgh and passed out before a game in Milwaukee.

The report from the Tribune also indicated that Santo and the Cubs plan on cutting his travel back next season “to the Midwest only.” Ron Santo’s recent health problems have “come from a nerve in his leg, which has made it difficult to walk in very warm weather.”

Dave Otto will join Pat Hughes in the booth during the three games in Seattle. Santo is expected to back during the three-game series on the South Side.

No official word on whether or not Santo will make the trip to the West Coast in July. The Cubs travel to Arizona and Los Angeles in the final week before the All-Star break (July 5 – July 11). The report stated Santo “may miss more trips this season.”

Ron Santo is an icon and hopefully he will take his rightful place in the Hall this winter.
