Spring Training Game Thirty-Three: Cubs (17-12-3) vs. Diamondbacks (15-16-2)
Game Time – 3:10pm CDT
Coverage – TV: WGN TV – Radio: 720 WGN, XM Radio Channel 188
Location – Chase Field, Phoenix

Randy Wells (3-0, 4.42/1.42) vs. Barry Enright (0-0, 0.00/1.00)

The spring finale for the Chicago Cubs … following this afternoon’s game against the Diamondbacks, Lou Piniella’s crew will make the trek to Atlanta to prepare for Opening Day. The Cubs will workout at Turner Field on Sunday.

In other news … The next step in Ted Lilly’s rehab will be Sunday morning at Fitch Park. Lilly will not be with his team on Opening Day. Following Sunday’s outing in Arizona, Lilly will suit up for the Iowa Cubs and Ryne Sandberg on Friday, April 9 in his first minor league rehab.

Tom Gorzelanny will also pitch in a minor league game on Sunday to stay on schedule. Gorzelanny is expected to start the fifth game of the season in Cincinnati on Saturday, April 10.

Reportedly Lou Piniella will give a majority of his veterans the day off this afternoon … look for a mostly minor league lineup in the last practice game of the year.

Randy Wells made the first start of the spring against the A’s … and he will close out the exhibition season facing the D’Backs. Following Saturday’s tune-up, the next time Randy Wells takes the hill will be in Atlanta against Tommy Hanson on Thursday. Wells put together a good spring with only one bad outing.

Wells has allowed nine runs on 20 hits with five walks and 12 strikeouts in 18 1/3 innings … with a hit batsman. This afternoon will be Wells’ sixth start in the exhibition season.

Barry Enright will get the start for the Diamondbacks this afternoon. Today will be Enright’s fourth game of the spring and first start. Enright has not allowed a run in four innings of work … two hits, two walks and a strikeout.
