According to multiple reports, Carlos Zambrano received a six-game suspension and a $3,000 fine for his actions in the seventh inning on Wednesday. The ruling was handed down on Thursday afternoon and Zambrano will not appeal the suspension…and will begin serving the suspension starting on Thursday. The Cubs will play a man short until Zambrano returns next Thursday in Atlanta. Due to Major League rules, the Cubs will have to play with a 24-man roster for the games Carlos Zambrano misses. MLB stated Zambrano was suspended for “inappropriate and violent actions on the field and in the dugout”
Carlos Zambrano will be eligible to make his scheduled start on Thursday against the Braves.
