According to a report from Cubs.com, Jose Ascanio was recalled on Sunday morning to take the place of Chad Fox on the Cubs active roster. Fox was placed on the DL with right elbow inflammation.
Jose Ascanio has been in Iowa’s rotation and has been impressive in six starts.
Jose Ascanio was 1-1 with a 1.01 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP…just three earned runs on 18 hits with seven walks and 26 strikeouts in 26 2/3 innings.
Reports earlier in the week suggested Jeff Stevens would get the next call (0-0, 0.00 ERA and a 0.79 WHIP in 11 games. Four hits allowed with 13 strikeouts, seven walks and a hit batsman).
