Cubs Down on the Farm Report – 05/11/09

May 11, 2009 12:05 am By Nate Leave a Comment

Here is your end of the week update from the Cubs’ Minor League System. The weather cooperated for most of the week and the teams were able to get in most of their scheduled games. With the exception of Daytona, all of the teams are right in the hunt for first place with the Smokies actually tied for a share of the lead in their division.

There were a couple of noteworthy injuries over the weekend…one for the I-Cubs and a scary collision in the outfield at Daytona Beach between Tyler Colvin and Tony Campana that resulted in both players suffering concussions.

Jake Fox is expected to miss a couple of days after being hit by the shards of a broken bat over the weekend. Both Tyler Colvin and Tony Campana were taken to the hospital after colliding on Saturday. According to the report on DaytonaCubs.com, both players are fine and will make full recoveries.

Thanks for reading and as always you can check out my site at YoungCubsWorld.com for daily updates. Here are the standings for the Cubs’ system only:
