Ramirez to the DL?

April 29, 2009 9:41 pm By Neil Leave a Comment

According to a report on Cubs.com, Aramis Ramirez could be placed on the 15-day DL before Thursday’s game against the Florida Marlins. Ramirez will test his calf on Thursday and if it has not shown any improvement since his pre-game workouts on Tuesday the Cubs will be forced to place him on the DL.

Lou Piniella mentioned the Cubs could call-up Bobby Scales, the career minor leaguer who has been in the Cubs system for the past two seasons, to give them an extra infielder. If the Cubs do call-up Bobby Scales, he would have to be added to the 40-man roster, which stands at 34 players.

Bobby Scales had a good spring .304/.373/.413 in 24 games with five doubles. In 20 games for the I-Cubs this season Scales is hitting .306 with a .378 OBP and a .486 SLG (five doubles, a triple and two home runs with nine walks and 15 strikeouts). Scales has never played a game at the big league level.

Stay Tuned….
