Soto Could Miss Time

April 9, 2009 1:00 am By Neil Leave a Comment

According to multiple reports on Wednesday night, Geovany Soto will have his right shoulder examined in Chicago on Thursday by Dr. Stephen Gryzlo. The report from the Sun-Times titled the “DL becomes a possibility for Soto” stated Soto does “not have a strong feeling on when he might return.”

The Cubs have five open spots on their 40-man roster. According to the Sun-Times, they could add Mark Johnson Friday to back-up Koyie Hill for the start of the series in Milwaukee. The last time this type of injury happened to Soto was in Triple-A and it lasted around a week. Lou Piniella is hoping Soto is not out that long this time but they might have to make a roster move to add another catcher sooner rather than later.

During Wednesday night’s game, Len Kasper reported Soto will be listed as day-to-day starting Friday, but it could be longer.

Stay Tuned….
