According to a report from Cubs.com, Carlos Marmol has decided not to pitch for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic. Marmol joins a long list of Cubs’ regulars that have decided not to participate in the tournament.
Ted Lilly, Geovany Soto and Kosuke Fukudome are still committed to play for their country in the WBC.
Monday was the last day of team practices at Fitch Park. The Cubs will move to HoHoKam Park on Tuesday with the first exhibition game of the spring on Wednesday against the Dodgers.
Jeff Samardzija will start the opener, followed by Mitch Atkins.
