According to a report from the Sun-Times, the Cubs inked Corey Koskie to a minor league deal on Saturday morning. Koskie will compete for the backup third baseman job. Koskie says he is over the post-concussion syndrome that cut his career short during the 2006 season.

Corey Koskie last played for the Brewers in 2006 and put up good numbers. In 76 games he hit .261/.343/.490 with 12 home runs and 23 doubles.

Update – Corey Koskie is playing for Team Canada in the WBC and once he returns from the tournament will compete for the back-up job at third. The left-hander has also agreed to play at least a month in Iowa (Triple-A) if he does not make the big league team out of camp.
