From the Wire….Gaudin Agrees to One-Year Contract

December 12, 2008 4:55 pm By Neil Leave a Comment

According to several reports on Friday afternoon, Chad Gaudin avoided arbitration and agreed to a 1-year deal with the Cubs. Several reports over the last two weeks suggested the Cubs could possibly non-tender Gaudin…those reports turned out to be purely speculation.

The Cubs tendered contracts to all eligible players on Friday, but only agreed to a contract with Gaudin.
Chad Gaudin came over from the A’s in the Rich Harden trade last July and figures to play a big role in the Cubs pen in 2009. Gaudin showed, at times, how good in can be in relief last season before his mysterious late night injury that eventually cost him a spot on the playoff roster.

Financial terms were not disclosed….

The Cubs tendered contracts before Friday’s deadline to all arbitration eligible players….but have not agreed to terms yet with Ronny Cedeno, Reed Johnson, Kevin Gregg, Michael Wuertz or Neal Cotts.
