Cubs Ownership Bids Due by December 1st

November 19, 2008 8:31 pm By Neil Leave a Comment

After nearly two years since the announcement was made the Chicago Cubs were for sale, the Tribune Company set a deadline for all offers to be submitted on Wednesday afternoon. According to a report from the Associated Press, bidders for the Cubs have until December 1st to submit offers.

Bob DuPuy, MLB’s Chief Operating Officer, “said representatives of four bidders have met in New York in recent weeks with officials from the commissioner’s office, MLB’s Internet Company and the sports new television network.” Reports earlier in the week indicated the Cubs new ownership group could be in place by the first of the year with the Ricketts Group viewed by most as the front-runner.

Stay tuned….

Also, the report from the Associated Press indicated Major League Baseball “took in a record $6.5 billion dollars in revenue this year” (yes, that is billion with a ‘b’)
