Mild Shoulder Strain for Zambrano

June 20, 2008 11:15 pm By Neil Leave a Comment

The Cubs received good news following the dramatic 9th inning win against the White Sox on Friday afternoon. Results from the MRI on Zambrano’s shoulder revealed a minor strain and no tear or damage to the labrum. The Cubs stated they would decide on the next step for Zambrano on Saturday. According to a report in the Tribune, Zambrano is expected to miss his next start on Tuesday night against the Baltimore Orioles. The Cubs have not made an official announcement and multiple reports have suggested Sean Marshall would be recalled from Iowa to make the start on Tuesday instead of Zambrano. A report on Cubs.com indicated Marshall or Sean Gallagher could be inserted in Zambrano’s spot.

Once the Cubs make the official announcement on their next plan of action with Zambrano then all of the speculation by the mainstream media will be put to rest. For now, there is good news….no structural damage to Zambrano’s shoulder.

Stay Tuned….
