Scott Eyre’s rehab in Arizona has not gone as expected. According to multiple reports, Eyre will not be activated from the DL next week as expected. Eyre has yet to throw off a mound.

Carlos Zambrano threw his side session on Thursday according to a report on Cubs.com.

Kerry Wood did not choose his theme song according to a report from Paul Sullivan in the Tribune. As mentioned in Monday’s recap by the CCO, Wood is walking in from the bullpen to AC/DC’s “TNT“, and he is not sure who picked the song to play over Wrigley’s PA system.

Cubs’ prospect, Robert Hernandez, was “suspended for 50 games on Thursday by the baseball commissioner’s office after testing positive for the steroid stanozolol under the sport’s minor league drug program” according to a report from the Associated Press in the Tribune.

According to a report from Len Kasper during Wednesday’s game, Micah Hoffpauir strained an oblique muscle on Tuesday, was placed on the DL and will be out for several weeks. A report on Cubs.com mentioned the injury happened during an exhibition game between the I-Cubs and the University of Iowa. Hoffpauir will return to Arizona for rehab.

Alfonso Soriano will remain at the top of Lou Piniella’s lineup according to report on Cubs.com. Ryan Theriot will hit second against righties, but could move down in the order against lefties. Soriano said he felt “more comfortable” at the plate on Thursday. The report stated Piniella had other reasons for moving Soriano down and mentioned the name Brian Roberts.
