Takatsu Released and More Roster Reduction

The Cubs announced another round of roster cuts before Tuesday’s game against the A’s. Shingo Takatsu was given his unconditional release and 5 others were optioned and reassigned to minor league camp. Adam Harben was optioned to Double-A Tennessee on Monday night and was joined on Tuesday by Jeff Samardzija. Jake Fox and Juan Mateo were optioned to Triple-A Iowa while non-roster invitees Ed Campusano, Luis Figueroa and J.D. Closser were assigned to Minor League Camp. As of March 11th, the Cubs Spring Training roster stands at 42….here is the breakdown:
