The Chicago Cubs released a tentative schedule for 2008 on Thursday. Lou Piniella’s crew will open the 2008 season at Wrigley Field on March 31st against the Milwaukee Brewers, it will be the Cubs first Opening Day at home since 2001. The Cubs will play their first 6 games at Wrigley and will play 24 of the first 34 against teams in the Central Division. The Crosstown Classic will resume on June 20th at Wrigley and the Cubs will travel to the South Side a week later on June 27th. The Orioles will make a trip to Chicago while the Cubs will play 3 games in Toronto and in Tampa. The season concludes with 21 of 25 against the Central and they finish on the road with four at Shea Stadium and three in Miller Park.

The Cubs hit the road for the first time on April 7th with 3 games in Pittsburgh and travel west for a brief 2 game set against the Rockies on April 23rd. The first long trip to the left coast is in the first week of June (June 2nd – June 8th against the Padres and Dodgers) and they make two separate trips to San Francisco and Arizona in July.
