Cedeno to be Recalled….Fox Optioned?

July 23, 2007 10:35 pm By Neil Leave a Comment

According to a report in the Chicago Tribune on Monday night, the Cubs “will promote Ronny Cedeno from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday” and the Tribune is speculating Jake Fox will be sent down in order to make room for Cedeno on the 25-man roster. Ronny Cedeno started the season with the big league club but was demoted after hitting just .097 with a .121 OBP in 16 games….3-for-31 with a double, 2 home runs and 4 RBI’s. Cedeno hit .360 with a .424 OBP in 65 games with the I-Cubs….89-for-247 with 13 doubles, a triple, 10 home runs and 32 RBI’s.

Jake Fox was selected from Double-A Tennessee last week when the Cubs traded Cesar Izturis to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Fox was 0-for-1 in his only big league at bat.

Will update when more information becomes available and when there is an official announcement from the Cubs….
