From the Wire….Suppan Agrees to Terms with Brewers

December 24, 2006 4:15 pm By Neil Leave a Comment

Jeff Suppan Agrees to a 4-year, $42 million dollar deal with the Milwaukee Brewers on Christmas Eve

According to a report on FoxSports.com from the Associated Press, the Milwaukee Brewers have agreed to terms with free agent pitcher Jeff Suppan on a 4-year deal with a club option for a 5th year. A report on ESPN.com has indicated the deals is worth $42 million dollars. This move weakens the Cardinals pitching staff as they were hoping to resign both Suppan and Jeff Weaver. Weaver is still on the market and many reports have stated he is wanting a 4-year deal as well….the Cardinals do not appear to be willing to sign any pitcher to a contract of that length.

The signing for the Brewers gives them a proven innings eater that is familiar with all of the teams in the National League…. he has pitched in the NL Central since 2003 with the Pirates. The deal will made official once Suppan passes a physical.

Merry Christmas from Everyone Here at the CCO!!!!
