Ivan DeJesus Named as Special Assistant to Lou Piniella on Monday

Former Cub, Ivan DeJesus will make his return to Chicago next season. Monday the Cubs named DeJesus Special Assistant to Lou Piniella. DeJesus is probably more famous in Cubs’ circles for being involved in the trade with the Phillies that brought Ryne Sandberg to Chicago than with the time in spent with the Cubs….DeJesus played for the Cubs from 1977 to 1981 and still holds records for games played at shortstop. DeJesus, 53, has been a part of the Houston Astros organization for the past 6 seasons. He was named the Manager of the Year of the Carolina League in 2005 and in 2003 he was named the Player Development Man of the Year in the Houston Astros organization.

This is a very good move for the Cubs.

Will update if more information becomes available.
