Game One Hundred Fifty-Three: Cubs (62-90) vs. Phillies (78-73)
Game Time – 6:05pm C.T. Comcast Sports Net, WGN Radio, XM Radio Channel 184
Location – Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia

Les Walrond (0-0, 7.59) vs. Brett Myers (11-6, 4.04)

Juan Mateo was scheduled to start the series finale against the Phils but was scratched after Tuesday night’s game in favor for Les Walrond. Walrond will make his 2nd career start and the Cubs need a quality start from the rookie left-hander. Walrond could not make it out of the 3rd inning in his first start against the Cardinals back on August 27th but was very impressive in his last relief appearance against the Reds on the 15th. Walrond threw 3 scoreless innings, gave up a hit and struck out 5. After 2 shaky starts in August, Walrond has thrown the ball very well in 5 appearances in September. He has allowed just 4 hits in 6 1/3 innings, struck out 8 and walked 1….just 1 earned run and an ERA of 1.42.

Brett Myers dominated the Cubs on August 23rd. He gave up just 1 run on 4 hits in 8 innings and struck out 9. Myers has gotten back on track and has been a force of late for the Phillies. He has not given up more than 3 runs in his last 5 starts and is 3-0 in that span. Myers is 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA in September, just 6 earned runs in 21 innings, 17 hits, 19 strikeouts and 7 walks.
