Talkin’ Cubs Live – Cubs vs. Brewers – 07/07/06

Game Eighty-Six: Cubs (31-54) vs. Brewers (44-43)
Game Time – 7:05pm C.T. Comcast SportsNet, WGN Radio, XM Radio Channel 183
Location – Miller Park, Milwaukee

Carlos Zambrano (7-3, 3.33) vs. Zach Jackson (1-1, 6.11)

Another rematch and another lefty….you have to hand it to Ned Yost it really knows how to kick a team while they are down. The Cubs face another left-hander tonight in Zach Jackson and will face another in the series finale on Sunday. Carlos Zambrano held the Brewers to 4 runs on 6 hits in 8 innings of work back on June 27th but the error plagued 9th inning cost the Cubs the game against Zach Jackson. Zambrano is 7-1 in his last 12 starts and the only Cubs representative in the upcoming All-Star game has received 6 no decisions since April 30. Zambrano has been lights out since May 5th but in his last 2 starts he has given up more earned runs (11) than in his previous seven games combined (8). Zambrano must keep the Brewers in the yard and give the Cubs anemic offense, that has only put up 1 run in the past 2 games, a chance to win the game. The Cubs can score against Jackson and did so on June 27th, they tallied 3 runs on 6 hits in 5 2/3 innings.

The longest winning streak the Cubs have had this season is 3 games, they have exactly that many left before the break. A nice three game winning streak heading into the break would be a great way for the Cubs to spend their four days off.
