Miller Throws Three for the Chiefs

June 22, 2006 10:37 pm By Neil Leave a Comment

Wade Miller Started for the Peoria Chiefs on Thursday night.

Updated – 7:20am C.T., June 23rd

Wade Miller made his first rehab start of the season for the Peoria Chiefs at O’Brien Field on Thursday night. Miller threw three scoreless innings, gave up 3 hits and struck out 3. Of the three hits off of Miller, one was a double and he also walked 1 on the night. Miller faced 12 batters and recorded 2 groundouts and 3 fly outs. The Chiefs lost the game 4-0 in front of just 2,390….a considerably smaller crowd than the ones at O’Brien Field for Kerry Wood and Mark Prior.

The Cubs have not announced the next step in Miller’s rehab. If any more information becomes available I will update this article.

Update – Wade Miller threw 39 pitches on the night, 26 were for strikes, his fastball was consistently clocked between 82-85 MPH while his breaking balls were clocked in the high 60’s to low 70’s. In each of the three innings he pitched, the leadoff man reached base but Miller pitched out of trouble, twice with help from catcher Mark Reed throwing out two would-be base stealers. Miller is looking to increase his pitch count by 15 in his next start which could come on Tuesday in Wisconsin.

The Cubs have not set a time table for his return to the Majors and Miller says he expects to pitch every five days. The Cubs have not made an official announcement on when Miller will pitch again.
