What Was or What Could Have Been – The First Month

May 4, 2006 11:15 am By Neil Leave a Comment

With the first month of the 2006 season behind us, I thought this would be a good time to take a look at the numbers from those players we started keeping track of back in Spring Training and during the Hot Stove.

With a night game on the West Coast on Thursday night, feel free to use this article as a way to share some of your thoughts from the first month of the season. Like all of you, I have mixed feelings about the first month, but after Wednesday night’s loss to the Diamondbacks the Cubs are still 2 games over .500 and Carlos Zambrano has yet to win a game and Aramis Ramirez, Jacque Jones and Juan Pierre are not hitting.

The Cubs did release good news about Kerry Wood on Wednesday and according to a report on Cubs.com, Wood will likely make a start for the Peoria Chiefs on Sunday….and according to a report in the Thursday morning Chicago Sun-Times, Mark Prior has been slowed with food poisoning but Wade Miller is expecting to be back in the first couple of weeks of June and the Daily Herald had an update on Thursday on Angel Pagan. What Is

If there is a player you would like me to keep track of during the season, let me know, either leave a comment or drop me an email – neil@chicagocubsonline.com. Hindsight is always better than foresight….at least that’s what I’ve been told, so it should be interesting to see how those decisions, made so long ago, transpire throughout the season.
