Derrek Lee in a Cast for At Least Six Weeks

According to a report from Bruce Levine on ESPN Radio in Chicago, Derrek Lee has two fractures in his wrist and will be in a cast for 6 weeks with rehab to follow.

Updated – 6:56pm / 9:28pm – A report just out in the Chicago Tribune by Paul Sullivan is reporting Derrek Lee could be out for the next 2-3 months and will be placed on the 15-day DL on Friday at that time Cubs will announce a call-up from the Minors to take his place on the roster. Derrek Lee suffered a fracture of the distal radial bone and the distal ulna bones while trying to brace himself for Rafael Furcal.

Updated – 9:28pm – Although the time frames have varied, it is official….Derrek Lee is out indefinitely according to a report on Cubs.com. So while the Cubs will search for a temporary replacement for D-Lee I have a message for all of the Cubs Faithful….

Come In Off the Ledge and Remember….Don’t Panic!!!
