Minor League Report – 04/18/06

The Iowa Cubs beat the Round Rock Express (Houston Astros) on Monday 8 to 5 to improve to 7-5 on the year, 1 game back of the Omaha Royals and tied with the Nashville Sounds for second place. Les Walrond got the win and is now 2-0 for the season with a 0.53 ERA. Michael Restovich homered in the win.

The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx beat the Mississippi Braves 6 to 2 on Monday to improve to 8-3 on the year, first place in the Southern League; 1/2 game ahead of the Chattanooga Lookouts (Cincinnati Reds). JR Mathes got the win. Iowa Cubs – Felix Pie went 2 for 3, Ryan Theriot went 3 for 5 and Buck Coats went 2 for 4 on Monday. Bobby Brownlie had another rough outing giving up 2 runs on 2 hits, a home run, in an inning of work. Brownlie’s ERA is now at 14.40.

Felix Pie (4/6 – 4/16) – 11 games – .326 (14-43)/.380/.558/1 HR/14 RBI’s
Ryan Theriot (4/6 – 4/16) – 11 games – .282 (11-39)/.341/.308/0 HR/5 RBI’s
Brandon Sing (4/6 – 4/16) – 10 games – .182 (6-33)/.289/.273/1 HR/1 RBI’s

Jae Kuk Ryu – 0-1/3.71, 16 hits, 8 runs – 7 earned, 13 strikeouts
Angel Guzman – 1-1/4.35, 9 hits, 6 runs – 5 earned, 14 strikeouts
Rich Hill – 1-0/1.38, 7 hits, 3 runs – 2 earned, 16 strikeouts

West Tenn Diamond Jaxx – Eric Patterson, Luis Montanez and Scott Moore each had 2 hits on Monday for the Diamond Jaxx, Montanez is now hitting .438 at AA. Chris Walker was 0-5 on Monday.
