Minor League Report – 04/13/06

The Iowa Cubs and West Tenn Diamond Jaxx both lost their games on Wednesday. The Iowa Cubs lost to the Nashville Sounds (Milwaukee Brewers) 2-0. Felix Pie was held hitless for the second straight game and the Cubs only managed 2 hits against Sounds pitching….both by Mike Fontenot.

The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx lost to the Tennessee Smokies (Arizona Diamondbacks) 2-1. The Diamond Jaxx pounded out 9 hits, but left 8 on base. The Iowa Cubs – Michael Restovich has continued his late spring struggles and is only hitting .174 at Iowa and was 0 for 3 on Wednesday. David Aardsma has yet to allow a run in 4 games. He pitched a perfect inning on Wednesday, striking out 2. Bobby Brownlie took another loss and is now 0-2 on the young season….Brownlie’s ERA is 16.20.

The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx – Luis Montanez added 2 hits and is hitting .391 for the year. Eric Patterson had a single and Chris Walker went 3 for 4. Lincoln Holdzkom took the loss on Wednesday.

The Cubs down graded the time frame for Brian Dopirak’s return from a broken bone in his left foot. The original report indicated 6-8 weeks and on Wednesday the Cubs have now listed Dopirak has being sidelined indefinitely.

The Iowa Cubs finish their series with the Sounds on Thursday before heading to Round Rock, Texas to take on the Round Rock Express (Houston Astros) for their home opener.

The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx have 3 more games left against the Tennessee Smokies before heading back to Jackson for the home opener against the Mississippi Braves on Monday.

The future is looking bright….
